Philips Airfryer Review
By: Major Dennis Bloodnok, rtd. (London, England), 28 Oct 2010
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic fryer, great tasting – and healthier – food
I was very dubious about this product and the claims it made before I received it. I mean, the very practice of frying is hardly healthy now is it. Hence the reason I’ve never owned any sort of fat fryer and only occasionally shallow fry food. However, I was drawn to the fact that this is an ‘air fryer’, a technology that superheats air and allows the use of minimal amounts of oil or even none at all.
On receiving the Airfryer I was surprised at the size. It isn’t exactly small and it is a reasonable weight as well. What I was very impressed with was the build quality. The thing looks very swish in the corner of the kitchen, black and chic as if it will transform your chips into modern art pieces. And taste wise I found it wasn’t too far off! But I digress. Set up was easy and very well laid out in the easy start guide provided with the fryer. The whole thing was out of the box, washed and set up ready for use in less than 20 minutes…..(Read More by Clicking here)

One of the main features people love about the Philips Airfryer is the fact that there are some parts which are dishwasher safe. This is a huge change from the mess that has to be cleaned up when using a deep fryer that uses oil for frying. These types of deep fryers require for the oil to be recycled safely and for a lot of soaking, scrubbing, and cleaning of the parts that are used with them. Since the Airfryer does not use any oil and there is no huge mess to clean up, the parts can be placed in the dishwasher for hassle-free cleaning.
The parts that are safe to wash in the dishwasher are the main ones that are being used to fry the foods. These parts include the basket, the food divider, and the pan which are just about the only parts that will get dirty from use of the Air Fryer. All of these parts can easily be removed and do not take up space in any size dishwasher they are placed in. They can also easily be cleaned with any brand of dishwashing liquid that is currently being used, so there is no need to buy any type of special detergent to wash them in.
One tip that might be helpful to know about cleaning the basket bottom of the Philips Airfryer is to use hot water and dishwashing liquid. This is a question that a lot of people have since this type of technology is so new. All that is necessary to get the basket bottom fully cleaned is to let it soak in hot water and dish soap for about 10 minutes then scrub it clean with a dish rag or soft sponge. This is an important part to make sure gets cleaned good because food is in direct contact with it, and diseases could spread if it is used too many times without getting cleaned.
The dishwasher safe parts that come included with the Philips Airfryer is just one more part of this amazing piece of cooking technology that makes it great to own. Not only will users be able to make fried foods quickly and easily with less fat, but cleanup is a breeze as well. Philips left no stone unturned when they created the Airfryer and this wonderful feature proves that they knew what they had the user in mind when they invented this healthy alternative deep fryer.

Some people are wondering how much food the Philips Airfryer will be able to cook at one time. Really this all depends on the type of food that is being cooked. Different foods are different shapes and sizes which will fill up the basket of the Airfryer differently. The basket has a max line that indicates where to stop filling it. Here are a few suggestions for how much of each food can be cooked at one time in the basket of the Air Fryer.
When cooking fries it will depend on if the fries being cooked are fresh or if they are frozen. Also keep in mind these are the maximum amounts that the basket can hold, not the recommended amounts. If the fries are fresh, the basket will hold roughly one and three quarter pounds of fries. If the fries are frozen, the basket will hold roughly one and a half pounds of fries. Both quantities are enough to feed a family of four no matter how they are cooked. However, the recommended amount of either one to cook at once is about a pound. Also, the basket should be shaken about halfway through the air frying process in order to get an even cook.
When cooking meats in the Philips Airfryer it is best to only cover the bottom of the basket with the meats. Since the Airfryer needs to cook the foods using hot air there must be enough room for the air to circulate around the foods. If meats are stacked on top of one another there will not be enough exposure for the meat to cook fully. However, the meats will get nice and crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside if they are cooked properly.
When stuffed vegetables and doughy foods are cooked in the Airfryer they should be cooked the same way as meats. Also, it is advisable to leave enough space in between the ingredients that are being cooked so that they can be lifted out with a pair of tongs.
When baking cakes, muffins, quiches, or breads in the Philips Airfryer it is important to use a baking tray that is 6 inches round. Also, make sure not to fill the trays more than halfway because the dough will rise during air frying, and if they are overfilled it might cause them to overflow and touch the heating element. This will cause whatever is being cooked to get burned and not turn out so good.

There are a lot of different types of foods that can be cooked in the Airfryer. When most people think about frying foods it is usually French fries, potatoes, and chicken that crosses their mind. However, there are some other types of foods that people might not expect for a deep fryer to be able to cook that the Philips Airfryer is able to cook.
Desserts
One of the types of foods that people will be surprised to find out can be cooked in the Airfryer is desserts. That’s right, deserts! Deep fryers are no longer used for cooking typical fried foods. Not this deep fryer anyway. Now all of the old time favorite comfort foods can be prepared using its Rapid Air Technology.
Vegetables
Not only sweet foods can be cooked in the Airfryer, but there are also a number of healthy foods that can be cooked. That means any vegetables that are usually grilled can easily be prepared. However, veggies that have to be steamed will not work so well and are not the best to cook in the Airfryer. Either way, people will be able to eat healthier by preparing their vegetables in this amazing revolutionized deep fryer.
Defroster
If there are frozen foods that need to be defrosted before they can be cooked it is done quickly and easily with the Philips Airfryer. There is even a timer available so that the foods are not defrosted for too long, and the timer has a “ready” alert that will let the user know that the foods are ready to be cooked.
Food Separator
It is also easy to prepare two separate foods at the same time when using the food divider basket. That means chicken can be prepared on one side while potatoes or fries are cooked on the other. The best part is the separate tastes of these two foods stays separate. At no time while eating one type of food will there ever be the taste of the other. Also, when dinner is done make sure to fix some great tasting brownies or another favorite desert.

There are a lot of great features that the Philips Airfryer has that make it a must have for every kitchen around the world. However, there are a few that stick out in particular that anyone who is interested in purchasing it should know about. Just the fact that the Airfryer cooks foods without using any oil is great, but these other features that it has makes it even greater to own.
Food Separator Accessory

The food separator accessory that the Philips Airfryer has makes it even easier to cook meals in. This accessory makes it easy to fry multiple foods at the same time without mixing any of the flavors of the different foods together. That means the meat that is being cooked will taste like meat, and the fries that are being cooked will taste like fries. With this accessory there is no need to worry about cooking one type of food at a time, and there is no worry about foods tasting like other foods.
Timer Accessory

The timer accessory is one that will allow the user to be able to do other things while foods are being cooked. If there is something else in the house that needs to get done, simply set the timer (up to 30 minutes) and go and do it. There is also a “ready” alert which lets the user know that the food is cooked and ready to eat.
Air Filter Accessory

The air filter accessory that comes with the Philips Airfryer will keep the kitchen smelling fresh and clean. There are no smells like those that come from a deep fryer that cooks foods using oil thanks to this integrated air filter. Most times, when using a traditional deep fryer, the kitchen can have the oil smell from cooking foods for a few hours afterward. The air filter on the Airfryer will eliminate any vapors and odors from the kitchen and the rest of the house.
Dishwasher Safe Parts

The Philips Airfryer is simple to clean up thanks to the dishwasher safe parts that it is made of. The food basket and the removable drawer have a non-stick coating on them and are dishwasher safe. That means after a meal is cooked it is easy to disassemble and wash effortlessly in the dishwasher. There is no need to hand wash the Airfryer to get it clean.
It is clear to see that not only is the Philips Airfryer a good choice for those who want to eat healthier, but it has a ton of great features built in to it. These are features that are not found with any other type of deep fryer, and ones that will make anyone’s life easier who uses the Airfryer. If ever there was any doubt about how great this product is, all that doubt should be gone after reading this.

One comment so far, What do you have to say?
There are several people who are wondering how the Philips Airfryer works. After all, if it does not use oil to fry the foods that we all love then how does it fry them? For several years people have been used to hearing the sound of food as it boiled in hot oil either in a deep fryer or on their stove top, but now Philips has invented a new way of cooking these same deep fried foods without the need for cooking oil. This is all made possible with their patented Rapid Air Technology that the Airfryer uses.

What is Rapid Air Technology?
Rapid Air Technology is the most modern advancement in deep fryer technology. The way it works is by circulating hot air around the foods that are in the basket. This air is circulated at very high speeds which make the temperature get as hot as 200 degrees Celsius or 392 degrees Fahrenheit. Now that’s cookin’! The air will heat up all of the foods in the basket from all sides at once, so there is no need to worry about the food not getting done all the way around.
Is The Food Dry?
Since the foods that are being deep fried are not being cooked in oil, there are some people who may be wondering if the foods will be dry when they are cooked. The answer is no. The foods will be deliciously crispy on the outside without being dry on the inside.
Does it Take Longer For Food to Cook?
The thing that deep fat fryers are most known for is the quickness of cooking. When foods are fried in oil they get done very quickly. Sometimes these foods get done too quickly on the outside which means they are not cooked thoroughly on the inside. The Philips Airfryer cooks foods just as quickly as a conventional deep fryer and the foods get done on both the inside and the outside. If someone wants to cook homemade French fries in the Airfryer they can eat them in as little as 12 minutes! That’s fast cooking the healthier way.
The Patented Rapid Air Technology that Philips uses when cooking deep fried foods is absolutely outstanding. Not only will foods be cooked crispy on the outside and well done on the inside, but they will not be cooked in oil. That means the foods that people eat when using the Airfryer will contain 80% less fat than they do when cooked in oil. People will be able to have more success with their diet by using the Philips Airfryer to cook the fried foods they want to eat.
